Mexico

Mexico is one of our favorite places to visit. There is so much to see in do in this incredible country. Chances are, if you’re a cruiser you’ll end up visiting Mexico a time or two. In fact, on some itineraries, you’ll visit more than one Mexican port on the same cruise!

Beach in Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel is a cruise-goers paradise. Many people don’t realize that much of Cozumel is actually undeveloped. Cruisers tend to hit the downtown area or take a ferry to the mainland and very few actually venture out to check out the island, as a whole. The island is so undeveloped that much of the Atlantic-side doesn’t even have electricity.

While in Cozumel we recommend snorkeling or taking a tour of the island via Beach Buggy or Jeep. One of our favorite things to do on the island is to spend the day sailing on a catamaran. Cozumel is also one of the top diving sites in the world!

Costa Maya, Mexico

Next up, Costa Maya is another popular cruise port in the Yucatan. Like many cruise ports, Costa Maya has been developed by the cruise industry to provide its passengers with an “all-inclusive” type of vibe. The area offers shops, restaurants, a tequila museum, and even a pool- all managed by the cruise lines.

Tulum

The Yucatan Peninsula

The Yucatan offers countless adventures waiting to be had! We absolutely love this little corner of the globe. Some of our favorite places include Rio Secreto, and the ruins of Tulum, and Chichen Itza. Our family also recommends eco-parks such as Xel-ha and Xcaret.
