Canada is easily one of the most beautiful countries we have ever visited. Elle had the opportunity to explore Toronto and the Canadian side of Niagara Falls when she was younger and was captivated by our neighbor to the north. In 2017, we took a cruise to the southeast corner of Alaska. While on that trip, we spent some time in the Yukon visiting towns such as Carcross, and Tagish. We also spent some time in British Columbia in the towns of Fraser and the gorgeous capital city of Victoria.
British Columbia, Canada
Words simply cannot describe how stunning British Columbia was! The towering snow-capped mountains, the lush green evergreens, the azure waters were more gorgeous than I can put into words.
Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, was absolutely stunning; especially at night. We suggest taking a horse-drawn carriage ride. Outside of the Parliament building, there’s a company that offers horse and carriage rides around the downtown area and surrounding parks such as Beacon Hill. The park is massive and is home to stunning gardens, manicured lawns, cricket pitches, a petting zoo, and several different trails.
While in Victoria, make sure you take a stroll or a slow drive down Government Street to see the vibrantly painted Victorian-style homes. You won’t regret it!
The Yukon, Canada
The Yukon has a very diverse landscape ranging from stunning snow-capped mountains to a desert. Yes, a desert. While in the Yukon, we recommend checking out the World’s Smallest Desert, the Carcross Desert. While you’re in the area, be sure to stop by Caribou Crossing Trading Post for delicious ice cream and the chance to spend some time with some really cool animals. You can even experience a dog sled ride here.
Of course, no trip to the area is complete without a visit to Emerald Lake and Spirit Lake, just off of the Klondike Highway.
